Inspiring Initiative by Mechanical Engineers “Green Habito”: Health in Every Sip

A Healthy Unique Idea

Hundreds of start-ups are being planned and launched each day, in India. But an initiative which can be pointed out as “unique”, is being rarer with each passing day. This is where the start-up of two engineer brains, from Southern India stands out.

Green Habito, a start-up developed by Sujith Kolappa Pillai Jayanthi and Aswadev Suresh, from Kerala, is the first health related juicery, launched near Techno Park, Trivandrum. Their products range from healthy fruit boxes to tasty, nutritious smoothies.

This unique initiative now holds a place in the hearts of many, which they earned through the taste and quality of their products. “The main idea behind this start up is to spread health awareness among the people” says Sujith. The main attraction and uniqueness of Green Habito is that it uses zero sugar-pure juice policy, were juices/smoothies are completely made of organic fruits or vegetables without any extra added ingredient (Yea! not even water). So, how is this possible you may ask??…

Cold Press Technology

Cold Press Technology uses a Cold Press Juice Machine to slowly grind the fruits and vegetables dropped into the machine and extracts the juice without loosing any of its nutrient contents. Cold Press Machine uses a slow, light heating technique, which provides support to the whole process.

Benefits? – As the tagline defines, every sip contains health. Whole of fruits and veggies are converted into glasses of liquid essence having one fourth the real quantity. This makes it easier to consume the same quantity in a much easier and tastier manner and also helps in bridging the daily nutrient needs from fruits and vegetables, (400gm/day, as per WHO).

Success Story

Green Habito was launched in May, 2018, right after the founders finished their Mechanical Engineering course. Sujith and Aswadev had clear ideas, which they developed into a start-up through a deeper study of the same. The initial inspiration for start-up sparked off from “Code of the extraordinary mind” by Vishen Lakhiani. The book enlightened the entrepreneurs on the importance of health and the gap that the current generation are experiencing in meeting the daily nutrition level. It is to fill the so found gap, that Green Habito was launched for. They were the first of their type in the field with special fruit box packages and different healthy juices. “Finding the right combination of fruits and vegetables to meet both the taste and quality requirement was the first challenge. From an experiment that extended to more than two-fifty varieties, only eighty were successfully drilled out, based on a balance in taste and quality” says Sujith, when asked about the variety dishes.

Being the first of its kind, the challenge was never to win over other competitors, but to win people’s hearts. “The real hardship was to enlighten beneficiaries about cold press, about the quality and finally, about the reason behind the difference in price, when compared to a normal stereotyped rate” mentioned Sujith. He also added “you will get a zero-sugar fresh juice from any juice shop in town, for half the price that we charge here. But, the difference in price always means difference in quality. We use 100 percent fruit or vegetable extract for juices in place of the added water and foam, that other shopkeepers serve”.

There was an initial struggle in spreading the word, but in time, mainly through word to mouth marketing, success knocked their door. With their first branch being near Techno Park, Trivandrum, wide acceptance and hard work paved the way to their development in Kondapur (Hyderabad) and Palayam (Trivandrum).

A part time start-up for nearly a year and a successful business thereafter, Good intention, Dedication, Quality and the varieties that they explore, all together made Green Habito a great success.
